"By working in partnership, I strive to build positive relationships and an engaging environment that enables our children to grow, flourish and be the best that they can be." -- Chris joined Wu Kai Sha International Kindergarten in August 2012. He has worked with ESF since 2006, spending 6 years at Clearwater Bay School as Vice Principal. Chris' teaching and school leadership experiences have been within early years and primary school settings, both within ESF and at home in Scotland where he worked as a class teacher, Deputy Head and Curriculum Development Officer. In addition to his undergraduate degree which qualifies him to teach the 3 – 12 age range, Chris holds postgraduate qualifications in special educational needs and educational leadership & management and has been awarded the Scottish Qualification for Headship (SQH). Chris is also an accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) school evaluator, consultant and workshop leader which has given him valuable insights into other international schools as well as the opportunity to work with and advise teachers across the Asia-Pacific region.
I am pleased to have been a part of Wu Kai Sha International Kindergarten since its inception in 2009. I have been in Hong Kong since 2000, and have a range of teaching experience in both local and international settings. I have a Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education, qualifications in teaching English as a second language and a postgraduate qualification in Educational Leadership. I have a great passion for Early Childhood Education and am especially interested in early literacy, additional needs and outdoor learning. I am originally from New Zealand, but have family in both New Zealand and Australia. I have two almost-adult children. I love Hong Kong and enjoy cooking, gardening, photography and exploring new areas.
I was born and raised in Liverpool, England and have spent the last 15 years teaching Early Years and primary children in Liverpool, Spain, Qatar and China. I have a BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education with QTS from Sheffield Hallam University and a Postgraduate Certificate National Award for SEN Coordination. In recent years I have specialised in supporting young children with additional needs, which is my particular passion and I really couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Outside of school, I am a member of the Beijing Nia (Dance) community and often to be found in fluorescent clothes and funky sunglasses dancing on The Great Wall and in the local hutongs! I am an enthusiastic cook, known for my tapas from my time in Spain, a spa enthusiast and an avid traveler, determined to explore as many cultures and countries as possible. Recent trips have included Myanmar, Xian, Chengdu, Singapore, Palawan and some more NIA dancing near the temples at Ankor Watt! After 3 years as AEN leader in Early Years at Dulwich College Beijing, I am looking forward to moving south to the bright lights of Hong Kong and delighted to be joining ESF Wu Kai Sha Kindergarten as SEN Coordinator.
